- Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer. More than
62,000 Canadians develop skin cancer each year. Anyone born today faces a 1
in 7 risk of developing skin cancer during his or her lifetime.
- Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. The incidence
of melanoma in Canada has doubled during the past 20 years. More than 3800 cases of new melanoma patients will be diagnosed, resulting in more than 600 deaths.
- Melanoma can affect people
of all ages.
